"Is there anything out there?" asked a fellow passenger shortly after Ken and I returned from our tour.
The answer is: Yes . . . France.
The answer is: Yes, you idiot. Why did you come on this cruise?
The answer is: Yes. Now go back to America and stay there. You are an embarrassment.
I have just about had it with rude and ignorant behavior. What a difference a day makes. I want the Brits back. I'm not going to dwell on all the specific things that happened today. I am just going to say my little serenity prayer from my South America blog.
We docked in Le Havre today. There's not much to see here. It is an industrial city. Much of it was bombed out in WWII, so there isn't very much of historical interest. The stuff they built right after the war is ugly and utilitarian. But this didn't make the passenger's question any better. There are still restaurants here. There is still culture. There are still things to see. And Le Havre is only 15 minutes from France.
Le Havre is not far from the Normandy beaches. It is even closer to Rouen. A day trip to Paris is doable.
